b.lake is the name of my indie/alternative rock project. The band features Evan Schirle on drums, Chrissy Corazza on bass, John Micensky on Guitar & vocals, and Kristina Plumb on vocals. Our live performances often feature additional auxiliary instruments like Cello, Trumpet, and saxophone. This project acts as my musical outlet where my favorite musical ideas come to life. The songs are written by me, John Micensky, but the instrumental parts are written and performed by my bandmates.
As a musician and audio engineer, John Micensky has worked with a variety of accomplished musical artists including OK Cool, Pinksqueeze, Daarling, Janet Blackwell, and more. This project draws influences from acts like Djo, The Shins, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, and Mt. Joy. The live performance is intended to take you on a ride from relaxed folk rock acoustic vibes all the way to overdriven punk anthems. I’ve released an EP, and a handful of singles that are leading up to the release on our full album!
Why, the name ‘b.lake’?
I’ve been a member of many bands but never felt that the naming of these projects could grow with me as a person. So when I decided to put out my solo music, I wanted to go by a name that felt original to me almost like I’d been carrying it around this whole time. My middle name is Blake and as a fan of Panic! At The Disco, I loved their creative use of punctuation in their name. Thus the name, b.lake. I also want my artist name’s visual aesthetic to feel modern on paper, and I feel this unconventional spelling reflects that goal.
