Bio

b.lake is the moniker I go by for my indie/alternative rock project. I’m known for working with a variety of musicians in the Chicago area. I first became known for mywork as an audio engineer/producer. I’ve recorded a variety of established local acts including OK Cool, Pinksqueeze, Zoofunkyou, Jared Jones, Modern Dairy, and more. This project draws influences from acts like The Shins, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, and Mt. Joy. The live performance is intended to take you on a ride from relaxed folk rock acoustic vibes all the way to overdriven punk anthems. I’ve released an EP, and a more recent single called “Reminisce”.

It all started when…

my best friend and I received our first musical instruments in the 5th grade. This is where I learned drums while he learned guitar. We’d learn our favorite rock songs in lessons then jam on them a few days later. This led to starting a Pop-Punk band in high school, DJing clubs and parties throughout my early 20s, and now recording professional musicians at studios around the city of Chicago.

Why, the name ‘b.lake’?

I’ve been a part of many bands but never felt that the naming of these projects could grow with me as a person. So when I decided to put out my solo music, I wanted to go by a name that felt original to me almost like I’d been carrying around this whole time. My middle name is Blake and as a fan of Panic! At The Disco, I loved their creative use of punctuation in their name. Thus the name, b.lake. I also want my artist name to feel modern, reflecting some of the musical interludes that you can expect in my music.
